11.04.2022

On the 3rd of  March, 2022, Russian troops entered the village of Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast, where about 400 people lived before the full-scale invasion.

The Russians set up their headquarters in a local school and forced local residents into the school basement in order to prevent Ukrainian military from bombing. In that basement, 380 village residents were kept for 28 days without the opportunity to go outside.

They were poorly fed and the men were taken for interrogation, beaten and shot. 11 people did not survive the difficult conditions, but the occupiers did not allow to bury the dead.

On the 30th of March, the Russian occupiers fled the village and only after that people were able to return from the basement to their own homes.
