The village of Yahidne is located 12 km south of Chernihiv. Russian troops entered it on March 3, 2022.
The Russians set up their headquarters in a village school and, to prevent the Ukrainian military from bombing it, forced local residents into the school basement. In that basement,
380 people were kept for 28 days without the opportunity to go outside freely, they were poorly fed, and the men were taken for interrogation, some of them were beaten and shot.
People were able to leave the basement only on April 1, when the occupants left the village.
